I have been in the field of mental health since 1981. I have had a variety of experiences working people who have had different types of problems. Most people have issues of some type or another, as part of the human condition. It is about how people manage them. These days it is more acceptable to ask for help. In my current and past experiences, I have worked with a variety of individuals having problems ranging from anxiety, depression, anger management, chronic habitual problems, compulsivity, bipolar, sexual addiction, sexual offending/deviant behaviors, and psychotic issues. The important aspect of therapy is that clients come with said issues and expect some result in the form of change. It is my job to help facilitate that process. I have developed an integrated approach, recognizing that there are numerous techniques and approaches to help people accomplish treatment goals. I employ a variety of techniques ranging from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), including the use of imagery and hypnotic techniques to help clients. My philosophy includes Humanistic Positive Psychology and Post Modernism (people create their own inner realities) with the promotion of the Good Lives Model and Adlerian theory. This means that people have life plans, needs and goals in life. I realize that many people have the resources within themselves to resolve their own problems with some guidance. I have spent a significant portion of my professional life working in prisons with a variety of problems, including sexual aggression. I have done a lot of work with RP (Relapse Prevention) related approaches including change maintenance, life (risk) management, etc. Lastly, I hold licenses in clinical counseling in Illinois and Missouri, along with specialized license in sex offender assessment and treatment. Call today and let’s create new behaviors, minimize the stress and overcome setbacks.
